Theory Of Writing Final

What I believed writing was is that it was used to tell a story. People decided to write because they wanted to get something across. They wanted to express themselves in a different way rather than using language. For me personally, I find English to be quite complicated as it uses many complicated words that look to be extra and unnecessary to use. I like to read simple things that tend to not confuse me as much and when things involve words or even sentences that use lengthy language to read, then it makes writing not interesting for me. Two things that I like to read on my spare time that I find interesting are comics and novels. They get right to the point and do not take a long time to explain their ideas. Before coming to class, I also believed that writing was a way in which people could express the way they feel. Someone can really go deep into writing and really get into the feelings of the readers if they choose the right words to use. They can really get to touch the reader’s heart and make the reader feel emotional about the piece of writing that has been presented to them.

With each assignment that I have done, my theory has not changed much. I still believe that people use writing to tell a story but maybe even more than that is done with writing. Maybe we use writing to show what we have gone through and the hurdles we had to overcome to get where we are. Maybe more than a story, we explain our lives and what has happened and how we got to the place we are right now. In my theory of writing, I do not like complicated words that are used when someone wants to write. Even though it may make the writing look longer and may seem smarter, if the reader does not know what the words mean, they are going to become interested. The piece of writing becomes meaningless when it is not read. It should be something that attracts the attention of others and something that interests them when they hear the name of it. The last piece of my theory of writing has stayed the same. Someone can write something and get really deep into the hearts of the readers. They can write something with a lot of emotions that can touch the heart of someone reading it.

I haven’t had any event that impacted the way that I write. I always try to write the bare minimum that I have to write in order to get something done and get my goal achieved. I have never looked up to something or someone that impacted my writing. I never really had an inspiration to improve my writing because I don’t really do it for someone else but to accomplish a small goal for myself. My theory of writing may state that It is used to tell a story and that it can have a deep meaning but on the contrary that is not the same way I use my writing for. I use it to get what has to be done and accomplished.

The way that I write now has not changed from the class. I still write in order to get things accomplished. The style that I write such as using words in different places and extending them may have changed but the goal for my writing has not changed. The way that I write now has stayed the same overall and I use it to the bare minimum to get what has to be done accomplished. Some small changes that maybe have changed in my writing are using rhetorical genres to explain things in more detail. I use different ways to explain things and use genres in my writing to go deeper into my thoughts and ideas.

Some of the rhetorical terms that we have used in class such as stance, tone, genre, audience, purpose and many others have not really improved my writing. They have given me ideas of what to write in certain pieces of writings but overall have not impacted my learning and the way I write. One example of this is when I wrote my sourced based essay. The rhetorical terms that I was given to use were just there for me to use and get my work done in a nicely and organized way. Even though I have used these methods to assist me in my writing, my theory as to why writing is used has not changed. I still believe that it is used to tell a story and to express the way people feel. I also believe that it has not changed the reason I write.
